I have a power hitting first baseman in his prime who has an OPS over 1000 for the last 30 days. Clutch hitter with a ton of swag with minor peripherals to support his breakout. He also has a 100% success rate on stolen bases this year.

OTB and affordable. Holla.

You should probably keep that stud and sell Freddie.

Once the rollover happens, several young players with upside will be OTB. I'm open to dealing for veterans, bounceback candidates, underachievers, and even relievers.

Have you heard what they’re saying about him? I think his changes at the plate could be legit, though we could see him traded to the AL in the offseason
quote:

Improving his aptitude, willingness and coachability resulted in better plate discipline and a more manageable swing.

Manager Andy Green has several times talked about Reyes as if he is some sort of baseball Rhodes Scholar. Veteran teammates have matched Reyes’ eagerness to learn from them with an eagerness to teach him.

“It’s his ability to soak in information, the questions he is asking; he’s just so open about everything,” first baseman Eric Hosmer said. “He’s telling you what he’s thinking at the plate, why he swings a certain way, why he didn’t swing. He’s so open and so willing to listen and learn and take some criticism at certain times.

“That’s one of the biggest things you can see. It’s kind of like a hidden talent. Because of his ability to take in information and put it into practice, he’s a winning player.”

They've been playing ring around the rosie for so long, I'll be surprised if they don't finally sign a legitimate closer this offseason.

True but if anyone has to be frugal it’s them with those abominations of contracts. They also need a lot including SP

Looking at spotrac, their payroll is going to drop from 173 down to 125 next season. Besides Pujols' contract, the rest are fine. Plenty of money to spend there and the market correction from last season certainly helps. They could go with one of their current guys again, but it seems like the same old song and dance. Stability in that bullpen has been a major issue the past handful of years.

hopefully, only to see LE run through the MSB like a texas tornado after it's announced. pretty sure he has a hitlist since he's been pimping Baez as mvp for 3 months

I was surprised myself. Looking at the free agent SPs, it looks like an underwhelming market as well. We'll see more and more teams reliever stack.
