Yankees crank out 10k/9 guys like a factory.

Yea he skipped the wait but he's got limited upside.

Are we sure

Seems like he has upside if he can harness the walks. People wrote Severino off after he posted a near 6

2nd best swinging strike rate only to Max and his last start produced most whiffs in a game this season at 26. Stuff is there, at worst he could be dominant RP

Luis Severino was a top 25-50 Prospect

granted people did start to write him off.

Anyone know the single-season record for all-time high BB/9 for a qualified SP?

Chatwood has to be in the ballpark this season.

That's what I was coming up with as well.

And a Bobby Turley with 7.0 BB/9 in 1956, buy only 132 IP so not sure if he qualified.

ETA: Chatwood, as of 2 IP so far today, is sitting at 8.40.

Starts with 5+ walks this season

9 Tyler Chatwood
4 Carlos Martínez
4 Lance Lynn
3 Lucas Giolito

Tyler Chatwood's 62 walks this season (4 so far today) are more than any Cubs pitcher had last season.

Jon Lester had the most with 60.

Ridiculous

Dude was always a bit wild, but yeah. Ridiculous is accurate.

(He's added a 5th walk today also...)

Shelby Miller threw 6 innings of 10k ball in his last rehab start. Wonder if I’ll get vintage Miller?

I mean, it's not Wade LeBlanc limited. If he can come down from a HBP or WP per game while only walking 2 we might be able to a stew going. This is all relative to him being a lottery ticket.

versus

Manning who is sliding down industry lists because.

1. Even though it's his first full season in full season ball, this is his 3rd season in the system and through 24 games he hasn't shown he can dominate consistently more than back to back outings.

2. That consistency is hampered by control issues.

3. It's expected that he can overpower hitters at his level with his mid 90s fastball and curve. He's working on his change and is said to have a two seamer, but right now he's a 2-pitch pitcher with control issues in A ball.

He can certainly turn it around as well. Newcomb is making a 4 BB/9 work while Glasnow ended up a reliever.

We're not all barrys who take 3-5 year plans on their entire rotation though.

Puk though
