Eovaldi has always had a live fastball. What he didn't have was a truly effective secondary pitch. Then he developed a splitter, which helped. Problem is that a splitter is the most damaging pitch to your elbow. If he could develop something to back the fastball up, he'll be a useful pitcher at the very least.
