Oh man, Franchy with the inside-the-parker today (2). Showcasing his oppo pop and standout speed

29.6 feet per second -- Franchy Cordero

Assist to Gyny for that nugget.

The 23-year-old OF is following up his MVP performance of the Dominican Winter League (.888 OPS) with a strong start to spring (1.569 OPS).

Franchy, who hit 17 homers and stole 15 bags with a .972 OPS in 93 AAA games in 2017, rose into the top 80 of a recently updated prospect ranking.

Exciting times ahead for the 6-foot-3, 190 pounder.

He’s very Gregory Polanco-y.

Just saw his homerun. He was almost at third when the ball hit off the wall. Damn.

ive been tracking franchy since last year. few things going against him

- crowded SD OF w/ Myers, Margot, Renfroe, Pirela (though theyre all RH)
- cannot hit LHP
- would like a better BB%

Another side note is he's put up a lot of numbers over the course of the pat year @ El Paso/PCL, and the Dom League, which severely lacks pitching

all that said, he's worth a roster spot in this league and I like him better than most "top 100" prospects

my thing is, if youre playing at the show at that age, you are usually pretty damn good, or will be, even if the numbers dont currently reflect. He'll be useful i reckon. Im surprise MWG is the only guy that bites on him

I had him last year. I'm loaded as hell with young OF, so I had to let him roll on out.

Who's more likely to end up being a closer Kopech or Cease?

Cease. But Kopech needs to develop his change up more if he is gonna stay a starter.

Burger injured his left Achilles tendon Monday, James Fegan of The Athletic Chicago reports.

Analysis:Burger went down in a heap while running out a grounder to first, and he was down for several minutes before ultimately being taken off the field in a cart. Further specifics regarding the severity of injury should surface in the coming days after he's further evaluated.

Welp.

I don’t think you have to worry about Kopech becoming a reliever.

You don’t want to pay that price bro

ETA: you could’ve had him last year at the deadline
