Adrian Peterson or David Johnson - standard

Been debating safe(AD) vs upside(DJ).

I'd pick David Johnson, total points will be similar if both are healthy and I feel like AP's got more risk in terms of age/health.

What gives you that indication?

I mean he's 31 and has been an absolute work horse his entire career. I have to imagine he's significantly more susceptible to injury at this point in his career. But he's a hoss so who knows, I just get the same vibe about him that I had about Lynch last season.

Just not seeing anything that would indicate a slowdown this year. Also, he had a year off recently which may increase his longevity.

Yeah it's more of a gut feeling for me. He is definitely skilled and if healthy will be a top 5ish back I just think DJ also produces similar numbers and I see him as being a lower injury risk. Although the thing that sucks about injuries is they can happen to anyone/anytime.

That's why they call it "falling off a cliff" you don't see it coming.

I'd go Johnson. Less susceptible to injury and playing in a more efficient offense that will likely be on the field longer and in scoring position more often.

This will be called, "running along the plateau."

As evidenced by what? He hasn't even played a season yet.

can't go wrong with either baring injury

He's already past the age where most rb's fall off a cliff. He isn't most rb's, but he is still human. Time will catch up to him eventually. Each year that passes the odds of it being this year increases.

Guys like LT and Curtis Martin tell us that HOF RBs are mortal. You play Russian roulette the older these guys get.

Stay away from AP. DJ all day, no pun intended, if choosing between those two.

Adrian Peterson is a FREAK athlete. His conditioning is superior to anyone i've ever seen play in the NFL(i'm relatively young).
He's the LBJ of the NFL

AP. Not a typical 31 year old. Johnson splits duties. AP is proven, Johnson is in his 2nd.
AP is the safe bet. Save upside for rounds 5 and later.

I like DJ. Upside in that offense is nuts

That year off may have helped him. Maybe

I did read recently where James Andrews commented that AP is indeed a freak and his knees look like that of a young 20 year old. This is probably closer in a standard than some in this thread believe. If I'm swinging for the fences Johnson, staying safe AP but I don't play standard
