Manager Bruce Bochy swears he's not giving up on Belt, but his actions speak otherwise. Belt has received one at-bat since Sunday, and he was benched Thursday against Jamie Moyer, who's been more effective against right-handers throughout his career. Admittedly, it woud help if Belt hit when given the chance, but the Giants' lack of patience is embarrassing.

Completely agree. There are two options for Belt as far as I am concerned.

1) make him your everyday 1B. Melky in LF, Pagan in CF, Schierholtz in RF, Huff on the bench. (but they won't do that because of Huff's tenure and contract).

2) send him down to triple A and leave him there until he gets at least 1,000 ABs and/or Aubrey Huff is released from the team. (but they won't do that because Melky is better in RF and they like Schierholtz and Pill off the bench).

They could potentially royally frick up the kid's future by being so indecisive with his role.

I'm of the opinion that Belt should either be considered the Giants future in LF, with Posey moving to 1B and Tommy Joseph/Hector Sanchez at C .. or they should trade him. Problem is Posey does not want to play 1B.

I obviously do not. I think Belt banged Bochy's wife or daughter. Other than that I really can't explain why they'd give him a spot on the team and bench him after 10 ABs. An impending trade, swing tinkering, or just plain stupidity are the only possibilities. Last year the Braves gave Freeman all April and part of May to work out his issues. The Giants obviously do not follow that doctrine. The list of players that cannot impress after 10 ABs is long. He could end up being a bust, but you do not bench a player you're openly committed to this quickly. I'm perplexed.

Same thing is going to happen to Pedro. Give him 4 ABs, bench him for 3 games, give him another start or two, bench for for 3 more, ect.

Tell me about it. But after the WS in 2010 he signed a two-year $22 mil contract with a $10 mil club option for 2013. That's why the Giants are playing him. And he hasn't really shown so far this spring or first week of the season that he's back to his form from two years ago. It bogles my mind how the same staff that left the most expensive pitcher (Zito) off the 2010 post-season roster are now making roster moves based on contracts.

Huff and Belt are the only true 1B on the roster though. Pill can play it, but his defense is pretty garbage. Don't know how Buster would do there but they need him behind the plate this season.
