How much does being from a certain state matter?

Like Walz from Michigan or Vance from Ohio.
Or like Trump from New York or Kamala from California.
Does it really swing the needle that much if it's close in swing states?
Or will people vote on policy and not the person?

Normally quite a bit. Now I think it’s a minuscule effect.

the the state is swing state and you have already won a state wide election there then it can help, in that state.
but in 2000, Al Gore lost Tenn, his home state....he wins that and he was president.....

Matters what state you are from. State pride is very high in some. Like New York doesn't give a shite that Trump is from New York. California doesn't give a shite that Harris is a Californian either.

A popular politician in a swing state can deliver that state. Mondale only won his home state of MN in 1984.
