They're trying to distort a narrative of blowout. The longer they wait to release this info...the less likely it will catch on and become part of narrative.

They want to see whether HRC won the popular vote. If so, CNN will lobby for abolition of the electoral college.

The same reason lawyers delay trial. The longer they push it away from the incident, the less people care. Theres a word for it, but i dont feel like googling.

Every sane person should constantly point out that CNN has been invalidated as a news organization by their injection into the Presidential campaign by sharing multiple debate questions with the Clinton campaign.

That already started today! A full report today on CNN on the origins of electoral college and how it is now outdated. And yes, Wolf was leading the charge on this agenda. Thankfully he finally concluded that it wouldn't go anywhere because "Republicans would not want to give up their power."
