I thought he might be able to pick up a couple.
I never thought he'd pull PA, MI, OH, and WI.
In fact, I didn't think I'd ever live to see those four go red in the same election ever again.

Dems had been winning by guaranteeing the Unions more and more bargaining power in their contracts. Now, there are no more contracts to be had. The shoe finally dropped.

I'm not as baffled that it worked for Trump specifically as I am that the Republican party essentially embraced unions, and vice versa.

Anyone who saw Bernie ambush her there and frick her life up in West Virginia should have known that Trump was coming for those states. People ignored it and decided to keep saying "fool's gold" regarding PA. Those defeatists don't understand that Republicans can broaden their base without pandering. They just had to refocus on the disaffected, not the chamber of commerce.
Also, Democrats only plan to help unions was to give them more power by law and that play hurts them with management. Trump's plan is to give them more power by giving them jobs. The prosperity plan aligns management with labor. An ingenuous gambit by Trump.

Why? For two decades jobs have been leaving the Rust Belt for other countries (an estimated 1 million or so) due to NAFTA and NAFTA was one of Bill Clinton's key achievements during his tenure. For decades she crowed about it to such a point where there was no crawfishing out of it.
Add to it that she barely campaigned in WI and MI, which had to come across as proof of Trump's claim that Hillary took them for granted and you couldn't have been a better strategy if it were hand-crafted by the Jesus in Ben Carson's painting and handed to Trump by a host of angels.

She did a good job of fricking herself there as well.

I went on record that day saying she cost herself the election. You can't win in PA, no matter how many people in Philly vote for you, if you can't at least get some of WPA to vote for you.

The rust belt strategy was the linchpin of his entire election strategy. His entire marketing campaign was aimed at that area of the country, and he knew he could apply it to anywhere else. He planned this all along.

Both Obama and Hillary campaigned in Michigan the day before the election i.e. the day before yesterday.
They went to the wrong part.

Obama and Hillary went to the wrong part? Well, that just goes to show how totally incompetent they both are. We lucky to be alive today with these two Bozos being in charge for all those years.

I'm actually not. Michael Moore has been warning us for months this was how Trump would win, and I believed him. I've lived in the Rust Belt, and he's absolutely right when it comes to the people there.

While Democrats were busy wasting time in Arizona, Georgia, and Texas, they didn't secure their flank. PA and OH are always close. Assuming you have them in the bag was stupid. Michigan should have been a huge red flag (as I noted above) once she went all in on destroying coal jobs and Bernie smacked her down. The warning signs were all over. They refused to heed the danger.
