2020/2021 Duck Season - Dates

I recently received an email with the dates / splits and zones for the upcoming duck season. The west zone will now have 2 splits. With the season opening around november 11th, then splitting from december 5th - december 18th - opening again until january 3rd. Splitting from January 3rd-10th and then running from the 11th - 30th. I kind of like this scenario. The east zone still has a traditional 1 split season. Whats you boys thoughts?

Last year teal season was great , opening weekend was good . After that it was downhill . Goose hunting was very average .

What’s it looking like for us coastal baws?

No more coastal zone for 21-22 season. Most of coastal will now be West zone

They felt so bad for the costal zone they just decided you can just hunt whenever u want.

Why does the west zone keep getting fricked with and the other zones stay the same? Is this some sort of waterfowl experiment? I would rather have no split and just run straight thru.

You have a lot of different habitat types in west zone. There is the contingent of people that want it to run til the last days of January especially folks along the red River.

I personally rather an earlier start and a earlier finish. Where I hunt, the last few years , the season seems to be about done after the first couple weeks of January. The birds have ate all the grass by then and moved on.

People insist on hunting to the bitter end of January, speaking of the coast here. But the bag checks say that production peaks early in season then tapers off from there steadily.
So with low water, smart birds, why are we wanting to hunt late in January on the coast again?
East zone fields, though, need to have all the January we can get.

Why don't parishes set their own waterfowl seasons? Take what the feds and state recommend and do your own fricking thing.

Is there any hunting season or fishing limits at a Parish level? Seems like a migrating duck needs broader management than parish level.

I can't buy into this. Go fish a week after duck season and look around, they're everywhere. Pressure pressure pressure.

Would seem to be fine in theory, so long as within the framework. But it's enforced at a state level so may be a nightmare for agents to enforce across each parish.
I'd be on board!
