I have the 4th pick in the rookie draft this year. I’m about 99% sure at this point that Swift and Taylor will go 1 and 2. I have a chance to trade up to the 3rd spot to get the next best RB, but would be giving up Chark (and receiving Will Fuller). My question is who is the next best and would it be worth trading up to get him? In my mind the next best RBs are Dobbins, Akers, Moss, and CEH. Just not sure who is the best out of those 4. Thanks.

Dobbins is a safe bet.

Wait till after the NFL draft and see who goes where and which prospect has the best chance at early playing time and/or drafted into the best situation.

If these teams take a RB which one would you prefer based on which team they go to.

Texans
Dolphins
Redskins
Falcons
Bucs
Bills
Bengals
Rams
Seahawks
Chargers
Colts

Out of these teams the RB drafted by the dolphins or falcons will probably get the first and/or best chance to get playing time. If the colts don’t give Mack and extension or trade for another back then whoever they draft would be behind one of the best OL in nfl

Depends on who goes where in the draft. For instance if dobbins goes to Chiefs or a RB needy team that runs the ball gets Clyde or Akers, you could go that route

yeah I think for the next tier of backs it all depends on situation and you wont know that till after the draft

There are only 2 backs at the moment to consider locks to be top 2

Taylor and Swift

Akers had a great combine, but that doesn’t change anything. The top 3 will be Taylor, Swift, and the next RB will be the one who ends up in the best spot

If Akers ends up at ATL, KC, or HOU, he could be a top 3 back for sure. Same with Dobbins

tl;dr

It’s a 2 horse race with 4-5 guys even with each other. It’s too soon to even speculate at this point.

The NFL draft will create a solid RB group for the top, but as always, rookie darlings end up in timeshare roles (Mattison, Armstead, etc) and flame out

And don’t do this

You might end up trading up for a guy that is in the same tier break as the one you can get at 4

Also, if Jeudy, Lamb, or Higgins end up in prime spots, they can go in the top 3 of your rookie draft
