Quick/Cheap Weekend Trip to Universal Studios

Considering going out to Orlando this weekend for a quick Universal Studios trip.
Are there cheaper places to get tickets to the parks than the standard Universal Studios website? Any success stories?
Not sure if I should trust some craigslist posts.

If you have an american express card that does the monthly offers, they have a couple of universal offers for 100 dollars back. I would just use the universal site and try to find a cheap place to stay on site.

Do you plan on getting Express passes because that takes the trip from cheap to expensive in a hurry. Unless you plan on staying at one of the nicer hotels that includes the Express pass.

A cheaper way to get express passes if you are looking to visit the parks for two days is to stay one night at one of their three nicer hotels. They will let you check in early and get your room keys to use as express passes for both days. You just leave your bags and go to the parks. Room will be ready when it’s ready.
The rooms go for around $300-$400 on slow nights. So you can get a family of 4 express passes for two days and a place to sleep for one night for that. The express passes alone would normally be ~$800. This doesn’t include park admission.
