Monty Williams has again impressed the pelicans fans with yet another fourth quarter collapse. It has gone on far to long. Anthony Davis is our franchise player. Franchise players get the ball in crunch time. I know that Anthony Davis isn't the best option currently in crunch time. However, we should give him the ball in these situations to see what he can do and help him develop his closing shots and moves. I would rather see Anthony Davis trying different shots in crunch time than seeing whatever monty draws up. No offense to Ryan Anderson, he just isn't the type of person who creates his own shot in late game situations. Anthony Davis needs to learn through experience in these situations.

We didn't have Eric Mr. Clutch Gordon out there

Clearly not Monty's fault

What does that have to do with anything? That doesn't mean he is a good coach.

I'd like to see AD start off on the elbow/wing. Start the dribble drive trying to beat his guy. Once the defenses help comes, AD can either pull up with the jumper if he thinks he's got that, or dishes out of the double team. Someone will be open. Maybe swing it one more time for a corner 3. Sounds legit to me.

Yeah that is exactly what monty should do. But it is probably not going to happen until monty is fired.

Reke tried to give him the ball, but he wasn't asking for it, and reke ended up turning it over. He made his late 4th quarter shots on an alleyoop, a wide open jumper, and a putback. He doesn't have much of an isolation game in the halfcourt. I would have liked to see him get it too, but he doesn't have that Tim duncan bank shot or face up game yet.

I don't think Anderson is a very good crunch time player. Monty is still adjusting the roster a lot and it's kind of pissing me off.

Smith, Stiemsma, Gordon, and Aminu makes up $23.208 which is enough for a max center and a good SF signing to add to the crunch time lineup.

Crunch time of:

Jrue
Reke
good SF... maybe Ariza, Kirilenko, or Hayward?
AD
max C... Monroe?

Plus:

Ryno (30 minutes a game, capping off the 4&5 rotation)
Rivers
role player
Morrow

Reserves:
Withey
Miller
Ajinca
Jackson

needs to happen

That team would go nowhere. No bench.

And please no Ariza.

Relegating Ryno to the bench and having a 3 man rotation to lock up ALL of the 4&5 time would give us more of a "bench" than we have. All we'd need is 3 guys to play about 39 total minutes per game at the 1,2, and 3 to lock up the 9 man rotation, which rivers and morrow and a veteran player could do spledidly. We have 5 guys right now. Reke is a faux bench, aminu is the real bench player there. Right now, we have no bench.

The 3 and Aminu(I think he's a 4) is more of a debate, but you can't tell me you want to keep $6.3 mill in Smith+Stiemsma+Amundson when all they give us is a lower true shooting %, inconsistency, lack of defense and lack of talent. We need to get a C to finish the game with AD because he's obviously not capable of guarding Cs now. Maybe no one will trade for Asik and we can get him with expirings soon.

As far as a 3 goes, having ryno on the bench and reke playing in crunch time would create a need for a 3 point shooting 3 who can play his position well. Ariza has been hot from 3 all year. I'd take a good 3 & 5 over EG+those 3 white bigs any day on this roster. Ryno's 8 mill>>>> those guys' 6.3 mill. Ryno is a perfect real 6th man: instant offense.
