I need a small backyard shed. Does anyone have a shed from Cook or Derksen or some other brand that they are happy with? If so, where did you buy it? Any particular person(s) that you would recommend to build it? I also need a foundation of blocks or piers because I want it two feet off the ground. It would need to be anchored and I need a ramp too. Does anyone know who does this kind of work? I know what all needs to be done but I would rather hire someone. I’m in Zachary. Thanks for any input.

If you are going to put it up on blocks or a pier system, Graceland is hard to beat. I have had one for over 10 years now. I did reseal the wood about 2 years ago. They make all sizes and styles, will deliver, set, and anchor the shed. They aren't the only company doing this either. Google "portable buildings in Zachary" and see what comes up as available.

Have a 10’ x 14’ Derksen I got about 6 months ago and no complaints. Set some pavers down and they leveled it then anchored it (think they charged $35/anchor). Bought an aluminum bi-fold ramp for moving equipment in/out.

I’ve been looking at tough shed. They seem to make a quality shed and the reviews are good. Home Depot sells them and will arrange installation as I believe it is included in the price (I could be wrong but unsure).

Does anyone know if a portable shed has to be approved by HOA generally? I know that it depends on the HOA policy but I’m looking for what is typical. Our policy is vague regarding this matter.

Our HOA requires the shed to have a shingled roof, it’s suppose to match your home’s shingles but they aren’t as strict on that part

I liked the look of the shingles so I was probably going to go that route.

Look at Morgan sheds on Hwy 19 in Baker between Chase bank and CVS. I got an 8x8 shed from there. Of course now I wish I had gotten a 10x10.

Have you measured that? That seems a tad high. I would think most people wouldn't do more than a foot.

Thanks much for the info. Did you buy your shed in Baton Rouge? I am kinda concerned that not all locations or building crews may be created equal and I want to buy from a location with happy customers like you.

Yeah, two feet it’s definitely high, but so was the water in 2016. Zachary is constantly building and my concern is high water again in the future because of drainage issues that building usually brings. My place is on piers and I didn’t flood in 2016 but it was really close.

Oh, duh, I see now that you are in Slidell. Appreciate your input. I will check out Graceland here around Zachary.

No, I live in Slidell and purchased from a dealer over here. I don't know how far a Graceland dealer will deliver. The dealer actually used a delivery service that placed the shed on my cinder blocks, and they did the anchoring. Those boys were out of Mississippi.
