Up here working for the next 10 days and they have yet to relax their Coronavirus restrictions, but most of the restaurants are allowing in-person dining.

I know everyone suggests the Moose's Tooth and I'm sure my group of four will go there eventually.

Any other places worth mentioning?

The Alaskan Bush Company?

The hotel restaurant/ bar at Lake Hood , used to be the melinium hotel but think it changed names. Food was alright but cool to watch all the float planes take off and land

Humpy's - Pub with a laid back atmosphere. Halibut Fish & Chips are good. They have the Kodiak Arrest challenge if you are into that but if costs a couple hundred dollars I believe.

Simon & Seaforts - They had good fresh caught sockeye salmon when I went there. I got the 3 course dinner.

Glacier Brewhouse - This is where I got king crab. I think you need to get king crab just to say you had it, but its expensive and does not have a lot of calories, so you'll be hungry a couple hours later after eating them.

Sushi sushi is a good sushi joint. Right behind mooses tooth.

49th state brewing company downtown is good.

Sullivans is overrated for Steak. I prefer Haute Quarter Grill. Better food and drinks (more of a date night place for me).

If you want to go to a cool dive bar out of town, head to Palmer (45 minutes hwy drive north of Anchorage). Palmer Bar. Thursday night they have a good steak deal. Also with 5 minute walking distance of Bleeding Heart Brewery, which is underneath the water tower. Amazing beers, veteran owned (former marine that's a school teacher, they now serve food too). Kinda a funky place its attached to an antique warehouse. Beautiful view of the mountains out there. Palmer Ale House typically has outdoor events and concerts during the weekends as well.

ETA: also Rustic Goat near airport is a pretty good restaurant as well.

If you want breakfast in a cool setting, Gweenies by the airport on Spenard is also a landmark.

Simon and Seaforts is what I came here to post. Try the Halibut cheeks or the Halibut combo (not on menu you have to ask). For steaks definitely Club Paris. Mooses Tooth for pizza. Humpys is alright - just bar food. The Crows Nest at the top of the Captain Cook hotel is good but pricy. Views are awesome.

Went there last night. It was really good. Cool atmosphere, too.

We went to the Moose's Tooth for lunch today. It was alright. I must not have ordered something they are famous for because I thought the pizza at the Bear Paw was better.

How are the crowds? I have to travel up next month again on business. Even though the weather is nice the summer months can be a pain because of the tourist crowds. There isnt that much to choose from in downtown Anchorage to begin with and with all the tourists it can be tough to get in unless you like eating at 5.

Not too bad. Moose's Tooth was packed the other night so we went the next day for lunch. The longest wait we've had was 20 minutes so far.
