Well I think the type of zone he’s playing is throwing fans off because we’ve been zone 95% of the time all year. Of course the 1-3-1 trap is obvious but our base isn’t a 2-3 matchup it’s a 1-2-2 or 3-2 which is what the NBA plays when they play zone and we use matchup principles so I can see where it looks like man to people. As far as our pace we’re about the same, the FG attempts are a hair down but the offensive rebounds are down plus the 3s and FTs are up so it’s really the same just distributed in different ways. I agree we’ve had trouble with rotations and help, the UGA game we had 5 men collapsing on drives leaving kick outs wide open, but the last 2 games we’ve been much better with that. Just gotta keep it going on D and we could be set to go on one of those long runs we’ve seen the 2 previous years under Wade.

During the broadcast, Jimmy Dykes was mentioning that LSU in that game wasn't getting defensive rebounds. I pulled up the ESPN app and checked the stats, and we were literally outrebounding Arkansas and we had more drebs than they did. Bit of a headscratcher. I do think that we have a lot of room for improvement, still, but the narrative hasn't matched the facts for the past few games at least. The key to us succeeding in rebounding seems to be the level of activity we get from Days and Watford. If those guys are on, we're getting boards. If they're slacking or having foul issues, our rebounding suffers noticeably.

I agree with you on Days and Watford. Days has to stay out of foul trouble and not float beyond the 3 point line too much bevause he’s an outstanding college rebounder. Watford just has to be aggressive about it. When he’s patient like the last 2 games and doesn’t wanna takeoff down the floor he really helps on the defensive boards. We laughed at Dykes whiteboard breakdown of Watford last night. They took an entire segment for him to just point out where Watford lines up at and draw a squiggly line towards the goal lol. Zero relevant information was disseminated in that segment.

The problem nowadays is, they rely totally on athleticism instead of fundamentals and that’s what leads to their defensive rebounding issues, albeit, they are doing a better job in the last couple games. These little parts of the game done well will be the difference in winning the big games or not. Perfect example, Joe Burrow, he left no stone unturned and that’s why he rewrote the books and why people are idolizing him on this board. You want to be a championship team? It’s about doing all the small things right. They are getting closer to that as of late, I’ll give them credit.

Angry Frank the best in the business coaching And focusing on rebounding. Tigers definitely have work to do, but Frank perennially dominates glass
