All I’m gonna say is that I need for you to fix your face mask

Managing COVID severity.
A month ago I would have been on the same page. I tested positive, ran fever for 11 days. Spent time in the hospital because my oxygen levels were low. I am healthy 49 yr old. No underlying conditions. I was running 3-5 miles per day. A month after testing positive, I am still on oxygen and don’t feel like I am getting better.
First, I wish you a speedier recovery.
This is the problem with most of the thinking here and around the country. People don't believe or care until it happens to them or someone close to them. This goes for illness, losing a job, being poor, you name it.
Until we start listening to experts again, we are going to continue to suffer.

My question is: How long does it take for one supplementing VitD to build up enough in their body to help combat the effects of covid? Surely it has to be a while, weeks. If anyone has an answer TIA
Great question!! I hope some can answer.

I think those with a vitamin D deficiency have higher mortality and hospitalizations than those without a deficiency and IIRC people taking supplemental vitamin D are rarely found amongst the fatalities

I’m 330 pounds I had it the week before thanksgiving. Wasn’t that bad lost my taste for a week. Felt like the flu for 3 days didn’t feel bad enough to get tested or go to the hospital. I’m immuned now so no more mask for me

I had COVID before thanksgiving. I am in the 35-45 age range, not fat, don’t smoke, don’t use drugs, no health issues. I felt like total shite for 3-4 days, then a little sluggish for another 3-4 days, but then totally fine.
Same here... It's real, but I think its being blown out of proportion. I still can't smell and taste anything two weeks after having COVID, which sucks! I did take extra vitamin C, D and zinc while I was sick. I always took Vitamin C and zinc as my daily regiment. I truly believe vitamins helps and something needs to be officially published by the government.

Damn near every source out there( WebMD, CDC, etc.) unanimously claims that there are certain underlying medical conditions that put people at increased risk of severe illness or fatality, namely:
Obesity
Diabetes
Heart conditions
Asthma
High Blood Pressure
I believe Asthma, per se, has been identified as not increasing risk of severe outcomes. There are even a few studies that suggest that allergy-induced asthma mat actually reduce the risk of severe outcomes.
Nonetheless, your overall point is correct.

It’s your idea that telling high risk people to get healthy vs wearing a mask and social distancing would have been a better Covid management solution that falls flat.
It would absolutely have been a more effective strategy and would have had an incredibly number of indirect positive effects for our health system overall.

Vitamin D is great for you regardless of COVID protection but ...
One of the issues with looking Vit D levels in COVID patients is that levels change very quickly. Someone may have normal levels but then get hospitalized with COVID and, without supplementation, those levels would begin to fall in just a few days. So it’s pretty difficult to measure whether Vit D deficiency makes COVID worse or whether severe COVID results in Vit D deficiency.
