planning to get a switch & mario kart for my 6yo for christmas..need help

i know absolutely nothing about gaming these days having given up after buying an xbox 360 and 27 halo & COD games and got completely burned out on them.
i'm like 2 console generations behind
i gave up and built a classic arcade machine and i'm back to playing defender and robotron. GET OFF MY LAWN
so he played the mario kart game one time at the store and i have to say it looked ridiculously good.
it looks like this thing never goes on sale..any thoughts from this board? good idea? bad idea?

I got one with games a couple years ago on Facebook Marketplace. I've had to replace the joysticks due to the drift issue but otherwise it's been great. Got a good deal and games with it.

Pretty sure the Black Friday Switch deal is the console bundled with MK8 for $300. That’s about as good of a deal as you will find.
Check out all the big retailers, pretty sure they all have the same deal.

This right here, Walmart will have their sale online 11/25 @7p for their Switch Bundle with MK8. Pick up an extra controller while you're at it and then you're set.

I got one for my 6 YO birthday in September. Check target and Walmart online daily. Also, subscribe to wario64 on Twitter. He releases sales and updates for games/systems. It’s how I got a switch via Amazon and didn’t have to pay an arm or a leg for it.

I'm going for the $299 deal for Switch and MK8 for my son. I know Best Buy and Gamestop have that deal for Black Friday.

This is for my 6 yr old son. This is the only thing he wants. Got my kids a dog during Covid and he was upset. Asked him what is wrong and his response was "I just want a Nintendo switch."

Kept refreshing Best Buy website for a few hours, finally got a Switch at 1:30am. Wasnt sure what time zone or when exactly they were going live. Refreshed website starting at 11pm.
