Question About A WiFi Extender.....

I'm looking for a way to get better wifi, for use of my Firestick in the outdoor kitchen. The outdoor kitchen is "about" 10 yards away from the house-or the sunroom where I could plug in the wifi extender. Right now I can get wifi, & most times, especially during the day, it is fine with little buffering. I have the most issues during the nighttime hours with buffering. So would a wifi extender help? And, if so, are they safe to use? I've heard some bad stuff about them not being very secure & having invasive privacy policies. The one I was interested in is the TP Link RE220, it had some good reviews but also some warnings about their privacy policy. So I guess my first question is, would a wifi extender even help my situation (I should also mention I have kinda crappy wifi from Centurylink) & Second, whats a good & safe extender? TIA

What Socrates said...i put a TP Link powerline adapter in my shed and added an AP in there for my firetv, echo and google home/mini. It cuts speed down but i was able to work from out there over vpn just fine.

Excuse my ignorance but, after doing a little research, does it matter the at the outdoor kitchen isn't on the same electric line as the house?

What do you mean not on the same "electric line"? Does it have its own service & bill, or just its own circuit from the house?
If you can cut the power to the outdoor kitchen from a breaker panel in the house, then it should work. They work best when used on the same circuit, but I think the newer ones work alright on different circuits in the same panel (though probably with reduced performance).

Well, this just got exciting. I've always wanted to test this.
The common belief is that it won't work if you are on a different meter. The documentation says it will not cross into other homes, and reputable tech reviewers like CNET and Linus Tech Tips also says it will not cross into other homes as well.
However, I actually think the signals can go into other homes if there's no transformer in the middle and if you're on the same phase. If you decide to try it out, buy it from BestBuy or Walmart so you can return it if it doesn't work.
How far away is the utility box/pole from the meters? Distance is not your friend here.

If the service is fed from the same transformer on connected to the same phase, it can work.

The outdoor kitchen has its own panel but they are both fed from the same transformer, which is located right in the middle of the house & outdoor kitchen in the pasture
