Not saying Hill will turn out to be the next Young, but he couldn't be under a better offensive mind than Payton, and they could both end up extending each other's Saints careers if things fall in place.

Steve Young stats:

And both from BYU. Although Young was a passer who could run and Hill is a runner who can pass.

Ultimately, I think Hill is more comparable to a Lamar Jackson trajectory than a Steve Young.

I'm not bashing Hill at all but Young's accuracy was unreal. He retired as the highest-rated passer of all time.

Taysom isn't close, which is not to say he can't be good

Steve Young had 1104 pass attempts by the same age Taysom is

And 1700 rushing yards

Taysom has 41 career passing attempts after today

Hill will only get better with full time first team reps!

You make it seem like this guy suddenly started throwing the football out of the blue and has no experience playing QB. Hill threw for almost 7000 yards in college playing the position for 5 years.

Young also would have been a top five NFL draft pick if he didn’t go to the USFL draft.

Was Young backing up Vinny Testaverde in his years with Tampa?

Hill is the future here. He deserves AT LEAST a full season after Brees retires. He’s proven that he can be efficient. With good RBs and a solid O line, the Saints could run power football and win a lot of games under Taysom.

It just seems like Hill was very under the radar at BYU. Maybe it was bc of all of the injuries. I agree he seems very comparable to Lamar Jackson both running and passing. Both guys seem to be the fastest guy on the field. Jackson seems more elusive whereas Taysom is more of a one cut up the field sort of runner (I actually think Taysom running style is most similar to Bo Jackson but maybe a half step slower since Bo was essentially track fast at 225#). Both have the ability to outrun the defenders to the spot

They concern for both would be when their athleticism comes back to earth some will they still be as effective.

Hill had 4 season ending injuries at BYU. He ended up playing a total of 37 games! In that time, he accounted for 75 total touchdowns.

Tebow played 55 games in his college career and had 88 total touchdowns.

Andrew Luck played 38 games in his college career and had 82 touchdowns.

Dak Prescott played 49 games with 73 touchdowns.

He started for the Bucs in '84 and '85 after they picked him up in the supplemental draft. He went 3-16 as the Bucs starter before they chose Vinny Testaverde No.1 in the '87 draft after deeming Young a bust and then traded him to the 49ers.

Don’t care about college reps.

Just finally getting pro reps at 30 is not good

Its jot a guarantee. A player can only improve so much before hitting their ceiling.

How high is Hill's? We don't know yet but he will have atleast 2 more games to find out

Long term, no.

Stop gap between Brees and the eventual replacement, likely

With Payton as play caller, this won't happen. Sean likes the flashy toys in his offense. If Taysom can't get the ball to them, then he won't last long
