It's a couple days old, but I didn't see it posted:

For Garrett Nussmeier, Friday’s, 46-24, win over Plano West (Texas) was another step forward in his quest to lead Flower Mound-Marcus to a state title. It was also another big night for the LSU quarterback commitment.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound four-star rifleman connected on 22-of-31 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns without any passes picked off. Most of his damage occurred late in the first quarter and over the next 15 minutes as he completed 19 balls for 257 yards and a score, jumping out to a 25-10 halftime lead.

“We started sluggish but got refocused pretty quick after they scored on us early,” Nussmeier told reporters with the Plano Star Courier following the game. “At halftime, we talked about finishing drives because it could have been 45-7 instead of 25-10”.

Last night’s performance was on the heels of a 433-yard, 4-touchdown night the previous week when Nussmeier led the Maulers to a 38-24 win over Coppell High School. He has now thrown for over 2,300 yards and 27 touchdowns against only three interceptions.

quote:

Nussmeier ranks as the No. 98 overall prospect in the country, No. 8 pro-style quarterback in the nation and No. 15 overall prospect in Texas, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. On 247Sports, he comes in as the No. 200 overall prospect in the country, No. 10 pro-style quarterback in the nation and No. 34 overall prospect in Texas.

QB room is on the verge of being great. Garrett and Walker both look likes studs and I know is going after Arch too. Not to mention TJ Finley and Max Johnson have shown a lot of great signs in limited action

Nuss and Howard are basically clones of one another (Howard a little better overall athlete) and could be used pretty much interchangeably in the same offense.

Nuss in his last game. Who does this play remind you of?
Nuss HUDL vid scramble and throw
I wonder if 247 is going to re-eval him soon. They have him underrated at .91.

Try telling someone 5 years ago that LSU is gonna have one of the best offenses in college football for the foreseeable future but the defense will be the one in question

He's only at 163 on 24/7 after the jump?

That's crazy.

Yes. 25 minutes ago.

RISERS AT QUARTERBACK

quote:

The top three quarterbacks in the 2021 Top247 have not played their senior seasons. Caleb Williams, Sam Huard and Drake May are each operating without a season to work with this fall. Each would have had some runway for moves with the right kind of senior film. Others are taking advantage of their own opportunities. Tennessee commit Kaidon Salters is on the rise. He’s up to No. 46 with some outstanding production and reviews from our Texas analysts. LSU commit Garrett Nussmeier jumped 37 spots; he’s another Texan with continued strong showings. Utah native Jaxson Dart has been the biggest senior riser, elevating from a mid-three-star rating to a Top247 perch at No. 186. Clemson commit Bubba Chandler made a similar rise out of Georgia where he’s gone from baseball prospect to top-flight quarterback. We also gave a boost to Florida State commit Luke Altmyer who is having another strong campaign out of Mississippi and joins the four-star crop. The Seminoles are holding on to Altmyer for dear life.

My guess is that if he was 2 inches taller and had another 20lbs he's be a 5 star. His stats playing 6A Texas ball is impressive and his ability to move and throw is college level.

The same goes for Howard as far as height/weight and performance. He'll probably fill out a little more than Nuss and both have to be completing over 70% of their throws.

It's amazing what a turnaround we've seen in QB recruiting the last few years.
