HVL trippin breaker

From time to time the HVL in kids bathroom with trip the breaker. Does it every cpl days or weeks. Could it be a bad breaker?

Sure, but it could also be the an issue with the HLV.

Change the switch first or the breaker or both?

I’m not an electrician but think I’d check your electrical connections in the switch first and if every looks good, no loose, or “burned” wires or evidence of arcing, I’d change the breaker if you are comfortable with doing that, easy and inexpensive, but if you not comfortable with doing that then don’t do it yourself - your safety preempts everything. Breakers become weak overtime if tripped multiple times.

Is it only happening when the vent and the heat are on together? Or is it more random than that?

Mine was tripping breaker recently. Like a dumbass, I changed the HVL. The new one was tripping breaker as well. I opened up the switch and the ground wire was making contact with the hot wire. Fixed that and it obviously corrected the issue.
