Wont be able to be too mobile as we are on a houseboat, but was wondering if anyone was familiar with the lake

10lb clear mono. Bring spoons to throw as they spawn which should be now. Be able to throw that spoon very far as they hit top water.
Plastic worm and jigs slow at the points and drop offs in the edge. Rattletrap and crankbaits in the open.
I liked to fish the treetops.

What boat you gonna be on?

I've only fished spring or fall there. We fish down a lot of points. You want to fish a soft plastic and bounce it down along the point or shelf. Speed Craws are my go to. Any craw or worm type bait will do the trick though. I like pumpkinseed or some type of purple.

I am a south LA fisherman, so am out of my element fishing deep clear water

I hear ya on that one. I don't really fish fresh much but I do fish Ouachita once or twice a year with my Father-in-Law, wife's grandfather, and two uncles from that side.
Think about it like bouncing a cocahoe off a shelf or bottom. I cant remember the weights but anywhere from 1/8 - 3/8 range. Fresh water has a lot of different weight choices. I found a ned rig head that as also weedless so mostly used that. The others fished a lot of wacky worm and drop shot.

I'm going this weekend too. We use dream chasers. Love it up there.

Go get a Striper guide, I only caught bass on topwater hitting points off main lake. Also ran some sliding pool noodles for big catfish, used small bream as bait we caught off houseboat. I still have about 40 noodles if you’re in BTR.

Grandparents used to own a condo in Mountain Harbor Resort. Btw I recommend their lodge restaurant at the MH marina. Great food.
Just got back from a vacation there with friends. I’ve never fished it much, mostly water skiing and stuff like that. It’s known for great Striped Bass fishing.
I think the best fishing is the far north areas of the lake where it’s shallower
