I’m trying to remember a book set I had when I was a kid, about 5 or 6 years old (I’m 50 now). It was a set of 15-20 books, each one was about an American historical figure. The books were blue and probably under 100 pages. The ones I can remember were Martha Washington, Andrew Jackson, and Francis Marion, but there were others. I’ve looked on Ebay but no luck. Does anyone else remember these? Thanks!

Yes! I think that was the set. Now I can remember reading Clara Barton, Betsy Ross, and Daniel Boone. Did you read them too or were you just lucky with the Google?

Pretty sure you’re talking about either Cornerstones of Freedom or the “Meet (Jefferson/Lincoln/etc)” set.

ETA: should have read whole thread.

I think I read some of them when I was a kid, well, let's just say if it was in my school library - I read it.

Plus, I used to be a librarian (specifically a children's librarian) ... so I'm just lucky with the google and kind of knew what I was looking for.

Not to butt in ... but the Who Was ...? Series is pretty good. There are a bunch of people, not just historical American figures.

There are also a few other series What Was(or Is)?? and Where Is?

Damn, I remember that series, but the only person I can distinctly remember reading about (I'm sure there were many others but this is the only one I remember) was Abner Doubleday. Great memories.

Has it been reprinted and available anywhere?

No I think the last printing was in the early 1980s - there are plenty of used ones for sale through amazon or thrift books

I wish they would reprint them!
