He probably didn't get much recognition this past year. Here's his 2019 summary
quote:

2019 SEC All-Freshman Team
2019 Second Team All-SEC (AP)
2019 SEC Special Teams Player of the Week (at Texas)

FRESHMAN SEASON (2019)
The most productive freshman kicker in LSU history with 21 field goals and an SEC single-season record for points by kicking with 146 … Ranked No. 3 in the nation in points scored … His 146 points is the most by a kicker in college football this year and trails only Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin) and Xavier Jones (SMU) … One point shy of tying the LSU record for total points in a season – currently held by Colt David (147 in 2007) … Has connected on 21-of-26 field goals and 83-of-87 PATs … The 83 PATs is an SEC single-season record and is No. 2 nationally in 2019 … Second team All-SEC from the AP and a member of the Freshman All-SEC team … Has kicked at least one field goal in 10 of LSU’s 14 games … Kicked four field goals of 50 yards more with a career-long of 52 at Ole Miss … Kicked three field goals (41, 28, 50 yards) in SEC Championship Game … First player in LSU history with two 50-yard field goals in the same game with kicks of 51 and 50 yards against Texas A&M … Just the second kicker in LSU history with four 50-yard field goals in a season … His 52-yard field goal against Ole Miss was the longest by a freshmen kicker in school history and the fourth-longest by a LSU kicker away from Tiger Stadium … Connected on two crucial field goals in the first half against No. 2 Alabama from 40 and 45 yards out ... Made a 20-yard field goal to tie No. 9 Auburn going into the half ...  Made his LSU debut against Georgia Southern and connected on both field goals from 39 and 48 yards ... Became the first LSU true freshman in the modern era to make a field goal in a season opener ... Opened season by connecting on seven straight field goals … Missed consecutive field goals just one time … Has made four straight attempts from 50-yards out

Cole Tracy was interviewed before the season, and when asked about York he stated “he’s gonna break every LSU kicking record”

The kick Cade York missed in the natty would have been good from 60. He absolutely destroyed that ball.

Cade was the #1 rated placekicker in his class. If he plays all 4 years at LSU he has a real shot at being one of the all-time points leader in college FB.

I think it was revealed he was suffering from an injury that affected his kicking.
