My 18 year old son recently got into golf again and needs a whole new set of clubs and bag. I’m willing to spend around 1200 for everything. What would y’all recommend?

You can get a decent set for 1/4 of that on Facebook market place or Craigslist.

Imo, get something cheaper to see if he sticks with it. If he does, maybe go get a nice set then. But if you are going to spend $1,200, go get him fit, at least.

Unless he’s over 6’ tall, he can use standard length clubs. Get a used set off Facebook, if the driver is terribly old, pull one off a used rack at your local golf store.

If he really starts playing a lot, a fitting would be warranted.

Spend the most on:
1. Driver $200 for a good used one
2. Putter: $100 for a good used one
3. Wedges: $100 new; may need 2 or 3
4. Irons: $400 used
5. Hybrid: need one for rough; used $75
6. 3 wood, 5 wood: used $125 each

I just bought an $1100 set of Srixon irons off 2ndswing.com for $500. Some of the irons still had the plastic on them. I also bought an unblemished TM milled grind wedge from globalgolf.com for $35. Global golf has 25% off TM until the 12th.

I wouldn’t buy new.

I’d check 2ndswing.com or callawaygolfpreowned

Callaway owns Odyssey...good place to find a used putter.
