He's making like 750k at ULL. Memphis is set up to win for the forseeable future and can triple his salary in the process. I think the transition to the AAC and then on to a Power 5 job would work out perfectly for Napier.

The AAC should kick a few teams out, raid a few from a couple other conferences and have the P5 become the P6.

I have to disagree there. Napier can get a P5 job from Ooh La La, but he’s not highly visible where he is. Memphis is one of the top 5 G5 jobs today, which is insane if you look at where the were a decade ago, but it’s the truth. The AAC has a real TV contract and Memphis was able to pull Gameday and 2 ABC slots this year. They have money and resources that ULL will never have. It’s the best stepping stone to a really good P5 job on the market. I’m sure he would consider it.

When you consider that no Memphis head coach from like 1971 until Fuente in 2012 was hired away, stepping stone is a big step in the right direction. The only guy between Fred Pancoast and Fuente who didn’t get fired was Rex Dockery. It was terrible what happened to him. He looked like a great coach who had things moving in the right direction before he died.
