Quebec City Recommendations?

I was only there for a day and a half, but we went to La Bûche and La Fabrique du Smoked Meat. Both were really good. Both had poutine.

Aux Anciens Canadiens which has been around since 1675 featuring rustic, meat driven dishes...caribou, bison, elk, and the likes. When I travel, I prefer to eat and drink local things that I couldn't at home, and this restaurant best showcases indigenous Quebec food more than any other. (If you've never had caribou, it's delicious.) This place is literally a block away from Frontenac, along with le Saint-Amour another block away...

le Saint-Amour for a really good meal. This place has never let me down, spanning multiple Chefs.

I've stayed at Frontenac and had one of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in, no window either.

A quality pub is D'Orsay which I hit up every time I'm there and would highly recommend for a drink and pub food. You can find la Fin du Monde on tap, along with other quality local brew. Yes, poutine is on the menu (yawn), but the rage in Quebec pubs are fresh PEI mussels and fries, either with a marinara or cream sauce. Mussels and fries are to Quebec pubs like burgers are to American pubs...expect to see them on the menu. For whatever reason, Québécois have mastered the french fry as there seemingly is no such thing as a mediocre french fry. Anyway, do go to D'Orsay for mussels + fries (always served together), and a beer.

Good luck finding any place that would put on an American college football game...just saying. It would be the equivalent of walking into the Chimes on a football Saturday and asking them to put on a Cricket match from India. Streaming media will be your best bet. Even if you ask around (in French), there will be zero people who will know what LSU is.

Horse drawn carriage rides are available during warmer weather. Took one once and enjoyed seeing the city that way.

As a tourist, be forewarned that it's pronounced "Kebeck" rather than Qwa-beck. Calling it Qwa-beck is on par to saying "New-Orley-ans".

Bring good walking shoes because the city is extremely hilly, rivaling San Fran, and you're going to be doing some walking.

At some point, DO try a slice of maple syrup pie, which is a very common dessert that should be found most anywhere. It's sort of like a pecan pie without the pecans, only doctored up by delicious local maple syrup. Yes it is sweet.

Brush up on your francais because I've been in restaurants where literally zero English is spoken.

I stayed at a hotel once that had a vending machine which dispensed cans of Labatt Blue. I had to get one just because.
