Wife and I are supposed to fly out of MSY to Ft. Lauderdale at 8:30 pm Friday (Southwest). If this weather causes cancellations what’s our best option? Can’t really change the dates as we are leaving Ft. Lauderdale on a cruise Saturday returning the following Saturday. I guess driving is an option but that’s a long arse drive. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you can leave a day earlier, change to a Thursday flight. SWA is very flexible. Give them a call.

Southwest has posted a travel advisory on their website. Options are listed.

You don't really have many alternative options on WN as PNS would be the nearest WN airport that won't be affected by the storm...and that wouldn't be non-stop. I suppose DAL...but I wouldn't drive 7 hours to save 5.

If you want/need to fly, I'd call WN, cancel the outbound flight and book a GPT, MOB, JAN, or PNS flight to one of the three Miami area airports. Cheapest I'm seeing is $290 o/w.

ETA: Didn't realize you were in Central. BTR -> FLL is showing $260 o/w at multiple times on Friday. I think you'll be good getting out Friday morning.

I'm supposed to fly out of MSY to Cancun Saturday morning at 830 with my wife. Highly doubt that happens. Any alternative routes that come to mind? I'm assuming we would have to fly out Friday to Houston from Baton Rouge, if that's even possible.

Glad you've been able to take over my duties, I've been slacking . Started the thread with all of the waivers, only southwest is up so far. Delta/UAL/AA will come once the forecast is more accurate I bet

You may have to do something wacky like MSY-ORD on Thursday night and ORD-CUN on a Friday.

I wouldn’t chance any connection through Houston on Friday afternoon.
