The Ninth Circle of hell is reserved for traitors

For those who aren't familiar with Dante's Inferno, it is an allegorical tale of one man's tour of hell.
It envisions hell as having 9 circles, each getting significantly worse than the prior.
The 9th circle and final circle is reserved for traitors, traitors being seen as the ultimate evil doers. Satan sits in the middle of this circling, gnawing on the body of Judas.
