#1 criteria for NWA Champ

Yep. Hitting on someone with charisma like Flair, or eventually Magnum, was just a bonus. That was secondary to being able to travel around and make a bunch of shite wrestlers in different territories look good. Poor Kerry couldn’t really be relied upon in the ring or outside of it.

For those wondering about Gino Hernandez death for some reason they spelled Jon Royal’s name wrong on the documentary (might have been on purpose) it is Jon not ‘John’. Here is information about his cocaine trafficking operation and trial. Of course he was getting it from Miami. Discusses Gino role and that the cocaine Gino had might have been cut with something harmful.

Funk, Brisco and Race were full of charisma But I loved to hate Terry and Harley

Read that link I posted on David

Sounds like Ric and David were great together in the ring. I have no doubt in my mind Flair would have done everything in his power to make David a bigger star across the country. Was going to be a legendary feud.

Those guys were a little before my time as far as being NWA champions go. I know Funk was charismatic just from his later stuff. Even Harley’s last run as champ, I wasn’t quite old enough yet to remember.

They were pretty dry. Bob Backland WWWF and Nick Bockwinkle AWA were pretty damn dry too

You know you're getting old when you remember Ken Mantel painting a yellow stripe on Buckley Christopher George Robley the III's jacket. Thus, the beginning of Yellow belly Robley.

Mid south was always the best. I stopped following it when they dissapeared.

Ditto. Never could stand anything else, esp the WWF or whatever the hell it is now.

My dad did used to watch something on the satellite (big disb) back in the mid 90s called Rocky Mountain Wrestling. Every now and then I'd catch a bit of it with him, and I swear that was the craziest shite I've seen. They had a humongous brawl spill out into the parking lot, with wrestlers bashing heads into cars and just causing major real damage.

Yeah. Just to be clear, I was talking Terry Funk when I mentioned seeing how charismatic he was later on.

God damn these are good. The von Erich one is like an epic greek tragedy. The story at the end in the gun store is heart wrenching. Frick

Viceland Pro-Wrestling Docuseries ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ Renewed for Supersized Season 2

Season 2 of the series will have “almost double the initial episode order, with 10 hour-long examinations of the collision of fantasy and reality and the stars’ larger-than-life characters in and out of the ring from returning executive producers Evan Husney and Jason Eisener,” per the VICE Media and A&E-owned network.

When Vice aren't following the lead of Bill Maher they are capable of doing some great journalism. Props to them when they aren't politically motivated!

Just finished part two.

Gained a lot of respect for Chris Jericho.

WWE and Vince come off looking terrible as always.

I felt so bad for Chris’s son who looks just like him and I can’t imagine going through that as a kid. I gained a lot of respect for Chavo and Jericho.

I then watch the Montreal screw job and that was good too. As a kid I never liked Bret Hart and was a big Shawn Michaels fan so I had no problem with what happened lol. Jim Corbett’s is the best and I could watch him all day lol.
