Lightly used Ping G25 irons. Thoughts?

A buddy of mine is trading in some clubs to help pay for a driver and is offering them to me at the trade in value. He is about 70 and just has a hard time hitting certain clubs so he has barely used these.

$20 each for 5-9 irons and a PW. He is also giving me a different wedge but thats no big deal.

Seems like a pretty good deal I just want to make sure that these arent only designed for scratch golfers as I am far from that.

typically ping G-series are game improvement and should be find for a novice to moderate player

their I-series is typically for more advanced golfers

$120 for the set seems like a really good deal as pings hold a lot of value

That's a great deal! Jump on that deal if the shafts fit you correctly.

Do it.

If you're far from scratch then the G series is perfect for you. You probably shouldn't be hitting anything below a 5 iron anyway. Just fill that gap with hybrids.

Thanks guys. The reviews seem great.

This guy has also basically given me a damn near brand new Cobra driver. He is just one of those guys who gets stuff and if he cant use them it just sits in his garage so he really doesnt give a frick. It works well for me.

Do it. I've got the G30 irons, and love them.

I gamed them for a while and loved them. They are not your typical GI iron. They are a little more compact with all the forgiveness of a GI iron. I had no issue working the ball with em. I got rid of them to go single length route, but some days wish I still had them.

I use G25s. They are not as game improvement as most.

The hit well and are pretty forgiving.

I'm a 10 handicap. Should I maybe try out the I series?

I know scratch golfers who play M3s and G400s. Play whatever you hit best and don’t give a crap what people think.

Pretty much every review online begs to differ

If I had to guess, he's referring to size of the head relative to other GI. He's right. They are more compact than the G20's and G30's. I think they were the better G irons Ping has ever produced personally.

I'd be concerned the shaft weight is gonna be light for you, but at that price, you could get them reshafted and still be a good deal.

He is in great shape other than his back the past few years. Looks 60. Nice graphite shaft and I hit pretty well but it was off the mat. Probably going to play a round today with them.
