Decided to make a hunt this morning with more intentions of scouting for next season deer. Anyway starting to get a few.

I’ve chicken fried squirrel before and one threw one in the crawfish pot after a boil. Ate plenty of gravy’s just never done one. Any tips?

ETA: Thought we had a cool book from way back in the sticky thread but didn’t see it.

Brown gravy, but some say Squirrel Dumplings are good.

Fry until done, make a gravy (with a sliced onion in it), put squirrel back in gravy, simmer for an hour or so. make da rice.

I usually fry it like Barneyrb said, but cooked some in a crockpot earlier in the season, then used it in a squirrel and sausage gumbo. That was dang good.

Cut up squirrels and put in crock pot with large can of mushroom soup. Cook on low for about 6 hours and it will be falling off bone

Well I got ahead of myself. Once I had 2 in the bag I started planning for dinner. Didn’t get another one. In my desperation to fill my bag I went to a section of woods I wanted to stay out of. Jumped big daddy in there. Gonna see if maybe I can catch enough bass for dinner now

Does squirrel hunting run your deer off permanently?
