Nokia

I thought Nokia was a stupid good value under $5, but didn't buy any. I think it's still smart under $6, but I don't see it breaking $8.50 anytime soon.

However, good to know and you're in an even better situation as you're getting bonus (and also, I assume discounted SPP shares?) shares, which is very nice.

Yessir very much discounted haha.

I guess its the primary reason why I didn't sell them off yet and reinvest. I really think if I hold out a few more years, once these billion dollar deals start paying out, and mmWave becomes real, I think we have an opportunity here.

Short term we have fluctuated between 4 and 5 bucks I think for the most part of two years.

There will be a wide variety of different 5G variations by carriers, so proceed with caution.

Verizon uses their own proprietary 5G (which they will eventually replace with 5G NG) and it's fixed. AT&T is relabeling LTE Advanced (4x4 MIMO, Carrier Aggregation, 256 QAM) to 5Ge. Just how much of a scam 5Ge is, you ask? Well LTE Advanced is something both Verizon and T-Mobile have had for a while.

My advice is to also look into tower hosting companies like Crown Castle. They've been doing bad in the past few years, but 5G will require tighter tower spacing, which means more leases for wireless carriers. Also, small cell companies like Mobilitie and Zayo are worth the look.

Lol I have held Nokia stock for a couple years before they sold their cell phone albatross to Microsoft. What a great deal. That one time special dividend was really nice and I have kept some shares after the rebound.

My biggest concern is two fold that Nokia ip technology hasn't really monetized their patents like everyone thought they would.

The Chinese vendors are out there and will force prices to the bottom. However with people worrying about trusting Chinese companies they could really seize the market place

Funny you say that because we've been pushing our patent business crazy since 2018 and its one of the key margin gains for FY2018.

When ZTE was pimp slapped by Trump our actual CEO was in the building and was selling the news like we were about to scoop up a large piece of the market.

We currently have 2 2.5bn or higher contracts with TMO and ATT for 5G. Of course, the carriers also took contracts out with Ericcson because no one wants E2E vendor apparently even though they will scream about it at other times...

Isn't that's just the nature of the Telecom business? Sprint contracted three different vendors for their LTE deployment and have now contracted two (so far) for their 5G-NR deployment.

No. .

1G = Cellular data transfer(analog)
2G = GPRS and Edge(Digital data, dial up data speeds)
3G = HSDPE (digital, faster data)
4G = HSPE+ (much faster data )
4G Long Term Evolution is the current standard. Data transfer possible up to 300mb/s.

5G is next Gen tech.

Oh it definitely is TW, but it doesn’t stop them from bitching about not having one vendor to go to when things break.
