Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same Movie

After all these years, it's still one of my favorite concert videos.

It would have been better if it was all live concert, but even with the personal dream scenes, it's still pretty awesome.

To me, Jimmy Page in '73 was his prime.

I worked for a mom and pop video store in 1985 and tried my best to get the owner to buy this to rent, yet instead he bought like 12 copies of Wham The Video.

WTF !

It's currently free to watch on Amazon Prime.

Music still holds up after all these years. That is how original and fresh Led Zepplin was.....I mean we all grew up hearing it so its overplayed as hell, but if you go back and listen its still amazing radical stuff.

i know that the performances used in the film are considered pretty sloppy even by typical zep standards, but i love this movie and its soundtrack.

and any drum solo that can make me forget wtf i'm watching (or listening to) gets a pass in my book.

"oh, right, i'm here, on earth, operating heavy machinery, and that's john bonham playing drums. right. i knew that."

My thought exactly. Long ago I got tired of people pointing out the flaws in the performance and not taking into consideration that maybe the band preferred their music to sound that way. I think their approach benefits from kind of breathing and swaying and stumbling as opposed to being very clinical and rigid. There are countless rock bands who approach their music from a neat and tidy, inside-the-box mentality... and yet how many of those bands are on the same status level as Led Zeppelin?

virtuosic, no question.
many would take issue with their music being original and/or fresh

Hah - Maybe the first albumn. It was sort of rip-off of what the Jeff Beck Group was already doing....but Zep took it to another level and created their own thing.

Those same people will criticize Joe Bonamassa for being soulless and sterile.

Whole Lotta Love from this concert is probably why I think Led Zeppelin was the best live band ever.

LINK

Watch this from about 8:13 mark till the end, Jimmy Page kills it ! Great stage presence also

Spectacular stuff. Though if you want just live stuff, watch How the West Was Won.

Awesome movie/concert.
Here is another Zepplin concert from 1970 that the old timers should enjoy, maybe even some youngsters
