Surely there are some CFB podcasts that deal with CFB as a whole.

'Solid Verbal' is a good start, but even they don't deep-dive into G5.

Kinda agree. Those teams deserve the most coverage because they've earned it, but it seems like everyone just regurgitates the same talking points. I used to record every episode of College Football Live and wake up early on Saturdays to watch College Gameday but now they always talk about the same 5 teams basically. And they spend way too much time talking about off-the-field stuff. The last time I watched they spent 30 minutes talking about Baker Mayfield planting the flag on Ohio State's logo. Who cares? Talk about football.

Wish they would at least do conference-by-conference position breakdowns or predict each team's season or something interesting instead of drama.

Yep. Feel the exact same way. Talking about teams that even have a chance at a playoff can be a lot more interesting than talking about the same teams over and over if they made a damn effort

I get it, but with all of the different CFB schools in all the different conferences, the show would last forever.

This is absolutely true and something people don't seem to grasp, maybe it's just younger people.

It's true that lower tier bowls were always "irrelevant" however they were generally not viewed or treated by the fans and media as such.

The BCS becoming the 'official' way of crowning the champion took a big shine off the other bowls.

And now the CFP being even more organized and 'official' has made it even more so.

The national champion was always a big deal in college football but as the system for crowning the national champion has grown in prominence and being more organized and official, it has taken on a priority and attention that it didn't quite have before.

National championship or bust is fine for about 10-15 in any given year and maybe a realistic gola for maybe 25-30 teams, but the remaining 100'ish teams are essentially viewed as the Washington Generals at this point and it wasn't really that way before.

Im only 30 and I think it has to be a younger generation thing too. When you only focus on 4 teams you lose the pageantry of what college football is supposed to be. There are more important parts of college football than who wins the title. Turn on an 11am big 10 game every now and then and just watch the entire game

No idea what you're talking about.I watched the Citrus Peach and Outback last year and they no more or less significant than they were 20 years ago.And I don't see
how the CFB playoffs hasaffected interest in these games. My biggest issue is have all these games piled on
in a 1 day span but thats been going on for quite some time.

Do you really want to go back to the old way of crowning a NC?We rarely got the 2 best teams playing
for a NC.Yes,there are some flaws to the CFB playoffs and BCS but it's no where near as bad as the old bowl system.

Sure it was.The landscape has changed a little bit but
it's always been a few schools who dominated in every decade. 1970's:Bama,Nebraska,USC 1980's:Miami,OU,PSU
1990's:FSU,UF,Nebraska.

Just don't remember the days of the "little guys"or non
contenders getting all this media attention and love and been watching for 40+ years.

This is exactly how they want it too.

If you don't like it, quit watching. (That was for the OP)

Does anyone care about QB battles? I mean I know if its your team you might want to now who the starter is. But Tua and Fromm are each going to start and everyone knows it. I guess there isnt much to talk about yet because I dont know one person that cares about a random QB battle.

I enjoy watching them talk about Bama, I wished they'd talk more about Bama and less about everybody else. They could even do a show like "Rolling with Tide" or "Training Days", that'd be cool.

Which is why the P5 need to form their own association, since the G5 schools will never have a chance to win.

Most of P5 doesn't really have a chance either. I don't see why a G5 team winning the G5 playoff is any better than what they do now. If I were a UCF fan, I'd much rather play in the Peach Bowl against an Auburn program than against Troy or something for the 2nd rate "national title"

If you're going to separate the P5 and G5, you need to separate the FCS as well. The gap from top to bottom of the FCS is larger than the gap between P5 and G5.

I agree 100%. The coverage on ESPN has become solely about the playoff, and it's much worse. CBSSports Network's SEC preview was at a level so much higher than anything ESPN offers.
