I've stayed there a couple of times, though it has been a while. I was able to walk to Delay Plaza and an area with some bars and restaurants(Main St, maybe?) Both were less than a mile. Maybe 3 or 4 blocks.

Don't know your age or what you like.
The OMNI is very nice but not adjacent to any of the "HOT" spots. However most are reachable with a $10 UBER ride...not that far. Look up each area on Google.

UPTOWN AREA - HOT Young area for professionals.
Deep Ellum (SELECTIVE SPOTS)
Trinity Grove (Nice and New)
McKinney Avenue..slighty north of Uptown
Bishop Arts District .. a little further...on the south side of Dallas.
Also some gems around the American Airline Arena.

Dallas has not allowed a true Nightclub to open in a while, so all of the music, etc happen usually at a restaurant with bar and music.

Main street has City Tavern, a good pub and a couple of dance clubs. The arts district has all the museums and a few restaurants. The Farmers Market has a few restaurants. And you are a quick Uber to deep Ellum, uptown, lower greenville or Bishop Arts. But the Omni wouldn't be my first Choice and it's pricey. Really depends on where you want to hang out in Dallas.

I stayed there a couple of months ago and thought it was nice. There is a nice sports bar in the bottom of the hotel. Other than that, it's kind of in a corner of downtown near the convention center with not much else around.

Bump. Staying here this weekend and wife is looking to do something outdoors. She found White Rock Lake Park but wanted to see if there were any other suggestions. Will probably do Deep Ellum and/or Trinity Grove for nightlife but need something to do during the day. TIA.

White Rock Lake ????
there is bike and jogging trail and there used to be some paddle boats "for a while" do not know if they are there still, IMHO, not necessarily a special place.
Ok for a picnic. A lot of groups have activities.

The Arboretum is close to WR, but WILL BE HOT.

Fine if you just want to walk around or something. They do have boats to rent as well. You can’t swim in it though.

The arboretum is cool, but will be hot like rb said. Klyde warren downtown as well will be hot.

Deep ellum is fun. Pecan lodge for fantastic BBQ, but get in line an hour before they open or you’ll wait a while. Deep sushi is good, braindead brewery is a brewpub with a huge beer selection and great food. Revolver taco lounge is great as well. Stay way from bottled blonde unless you want to hang around a bunch of douchey people. Deep ellum brewery is a cool place to hangout, but pretty meh beer IMO.

You can rent kayaks at White Rock or grab one of the rental bikes sitting around (rent them with an app) and ride around the lake. There are also multiple bike paths that go north past 635 (you ride under the Hi-5 Interchange), a path that connects to the Katy Trail in uptown and a path (Santa Fe Trail) that goes west to Deep Ellum. There are a few bars/rsetaurants just off the Santa fe path near the lake (White Rock Ale house, The Lot, Canne Rosso pizza, The Goat (Dive bar)).White Rock is the epicenter for cycling, running and walking in Dallas. There is also a free sunset cruise on a big sailboat you can do but you need to reserve your seats LINK. Alcohol is technically not allowed but people sneak it on there.

ETA: Trinity Grove is pretty vanilla. Its a concept the goal of which is to develop restaurants that can be franchised, so your getting pretty generic stuff there. I would go to Bishop Arts if you are on that side of the river. Eno's for pizza and craft beer, Lockharts for Barbecue, Boulevardier for bistro fare, Emporium pies is amazing pies and Bolsa is good farm to table but very crowded. Down the street is Nova which has good food and beer and mwhere most locals hangout, ...bunch of other stuff in Bishop Arts. Near Bishop Arts, You can also go have a drink in the Texas Theater where Oswald was caught. Its an art house movie theater with a small bar in the lobby. Just down the street is Small Brew Pub which is good for a beer and a bite.

Smoke is a good upscale barbecue place near Trinity Groves and a great hotel called the Belmont next door. Across the street is the Foundry which has free live music in an outdoor setting, but their beers are pricey. There is a chicken restaurant in the foundry court yard too.

Stayed a couple of years ago. We left walking seeing the sights but coming back after dark was sketchy because of a lot of homeless hanging out.
