I think Church is wrong about this issue, but it doesn't mean I'll stop listening to him. Doing that is just as bad as musicians saying they don't want Trump supporters (or whoever) as fans.

Read the rest of the article. Church said he voted for Obama and would’ve strongly considered voting for Bernie. He’s a big liberal like most of his idols (Willie, Merle, Springsteen, etc.)
quote:
Church didn’t vote for Trump in 2016. In fact, he didn’t vote for anyone. He voted for Bush in 2004 and Obama in 2008. He didn’t vote in 2012, but says President Obama didn’t do anything to lose him. (“I met him once,” he says. “Found him nothing but great.”)
quote:
He says he gets most of his news online, from CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
quote:
“Some of this stuff you look at and go, ‘What the frick? Why is this hard?’?” an exasperated Church says. “Why can we not get infrastructure done? Why don’t we do more clean energy? Why are [prescription] drugs so expensive? Because it’s a lobbyist-based system. It’s a money-based system. Either way, we’re fricked.” I ask, half-kidding, if he was a Bernie guy. To my surprise, Church lights up. “I love Bernie,” he says. “Bernie had a great message. It’s funny: If it had been Bernie versus Trump, I don’t know what I would’ve done. I would’ve at least thought about it more than I did.”

Hating anyone that doesn't share your opinion on one issue is super American.
I'm not a country music guy. Why do people freak about country artists' politics more than those of artists from other genres?
I'm pretty sure most of the bands I listen to don't share all of my political/social/religious beliefs, and I don't get all butt-hurt about it.

Eric Church has emotions. Now he will, for Better or worse, find out about the emotions of his audience.

The real vagina shaped cupcakes in these situations are the one who get offended when someone's opinions don't fall in line with theirs.

Not that I disagree with that in principle, but the REAL problem has been the cultural shift on The Left from championing unpopular Free Speech to penalizing it. Like Rolling Stone has done for two decades in EVERY SINGLE ISSUE. As The Left has imposed strict standards of Correct Speech on society under threat of coercion, America has become completely intolerant of speech that offends them. Social Media has become an Orwellian "enforcement" tool to keep people in line and punish them if they step out of bounds. Conservatives just return the volley out of frustration. That is sad and pathetic.
I would like a return to the way it was a generation ago-we ALL offend the frick out of each other, and we all deal with it. Tolerance for intolerance, as it were. But when OUTRAGE is the Coin of The Realm, that's not likely to occur.

Dude, that shite is from 2016! They wouldn't be in the top 10 this summer. Not even close.
