When you have a pitcher going on short rest after a 100 pitch outing, SWING AT 1ST PITCH!!!

8 pitches in 1st inning.

We've got Broussard swinging at the first pitch.

I agree with your point.

Ochinko needs to teach these guys how to swing baseball bats better.

It isn’t Ochinko. We’ve had the same over aggressive approach for years.

Our batters simply refuse to make the opposing pitcher work. They swing at anything in or near the zone, regardless as to whether it is in a good spot. They're terrified of taking a strike and waiting for a better pitch.

The approach at the plate tonight has not been good. Nor have the swings been good.

So who is our next hitting coach? Tyler Hanover? Matt Gaudet?

LSU has had the same hitting approach for awhile now. I don't think it matters who the hitting coach is. It's coming from the top.

I try to follow recruiting (poorly). It seems to me that LSU recruits a couple guys with power every year. Unfortunately, they all seem to sign. The pros really value power.

The two best power prospects this year seem to be Elijah Cabell and CJ Willis and they are both in the top 100 prospects for the draft. We don't normally get those guys on campus.

Last year we got 2 of them on campus, Storz and Cabrera. Storz was hurt and Cabrera wanted to come to school (I think he asked for a big signing number).

Maybe we will get lucky. The biggest difference between LSU and Vandy/Florida is that they seem to get high draft picks to show up on campus somehow. I wish I understood that dynamic better.
