It was really a flip of the coin, folks, about who was going to start for OSU this fall, and I think Joe, if he decided to stay, would have still competed for the job. Haskins, no doubt, is a tremendous talent with accurate pinpoint passing, although not as good a runner as Joe. Reading the OSU archives on the OSU website "eleven warriors", this kid is a starter whom the fans loved and not a negative word was uttered about him as a player. He's also got good character and is extremely smart. Reminds me of a Brady type quarterback. There was no way that 2 very good quarterbacks like that were going to sit, and that's not even including Tate Martell, who is no slouch himself. Something had to give with one leaving. Joe made that decision. Who can blame him. I, for one, am extremely happy we got him because with this elite defense and excellent receiving corps we can have a great year. We just need to get some production out of the running back position. Hey, yes, he's unproven, but with his small resume so far he's been good, very good. Add the fact that he played every weeks against a defense that puts a lot of players in the NFL. I think it's a great addition. Geaux tigers.

Expectations are high for joe but I think if anything this move for joe may light a fire under our other qb's. Hell in the older days competition made people better I am hoping this move does the same.

I’m as excited as the next QB hungry LSU fan! My concern is our O Line! They still have to protect him! Let’s face it playing Bama and Georgia in the same season is gonna be tough! They both field pro caliber D Lines

Comparing spring games burreaux looks better than any of our current quarterbacks

I said he "reminds" me of Brady, not that he "is" Brady. I was specifically referencing his smarts and coolness. There is more to being a field general than mere talent alone.

Good point....that's my one concern. A quarterback is only as good as his O-line.

I never was on the Etling bandwagon. Teribly inconsistent passer at Purdue along with having absolutely no mobility. I knew he was a disaster from the start....This boy is a whole different ballgame.

Joey can move, too, though.

Etling actually had some decent wheels when he had to run and hit full stride. No he wasn't Manziel, but he did have some mobility when he had to.

It is funny to me that we are already counting on wins at Auburn and Florida, and Miami in a semi-neutral site.
