I've built 2 boats, both small 8' single person ones in high school. They are very time consuming, but fun.I pulled jet ski motor and drive out a old jetski and installed it in this one.

I used the plans off of beateau.com i believe

Would love to hear some advice/experiences of people who have done this before.

It would be cheaper to buy one already built. Besides that, glassing over wood makes a heavy boat.

I would be interested to know how they got that dead rise on the front with marine plywood.

That haul is built with a frame. One starts by building a base and then goes from there. Plywood is very easy to bend.

Depends on the size and build out of the boat. Bateau.com has 16-18 inshore type boats and skiffs that are very light. Much lighter than fiberglass offerings.

Those are just glassing the seams. One really doesn't need to glass if the boat is built right. Problem of glass over wood is that if there is anyway water can get in between the glass and wood, one will have rot in short order.

using epoxy thin out for a cold coat on the inside helps lower weight.

What kind of boat you looking to build? Crawfish skiff, flat bottom or V bottom? I can lay out any of those. No plans need.

Haven't gotten that far yet. Probably a pirouge first just because I want an aluminum pirouge and then probably an 18ish foot V bottom bay boat.

Starting this summer is ambitious. I'm still trying to get my shop sorted out.

I have been eyeing that design for awhile. One day when time allows I will build that hull. Great lines. There are a some great pics of current builds on the website.
