Just a thought or two to consider. Because of the early signing period and the outlook on our last four spots presently appearing to be three defensive in nature, the Jan 12th contact period is only a OC deadline of sorts as it relates to JaMarr Chase/or alternate offensive spot, in fact if we don't close with signing Surtain/Joseph(committed)/Goodrich/Chase as many expect, then some of the alternates other than Foster or Keys are mostly defensive players as well... I would rather a good well thought out BEST AVAILABLE hire than a rush to judgment based on circumstance. If in fact we are willing to pay and outbid any other program in the country for BEST OC out there, then taking some time would be prudent. If in fact Sark becomes available since ATL has struggled some from a lack of chemistry with Matt Ryan, and since they are still alive in the playoffs, could this along with other NFL OCs in the playoffs be a factor in availability for hire? I would think that considering our recent history with Canada (regardless of why he was dismissed), we would rather not hire someone that has been in multiple programs, changing every year or two, and that does not have a lot of winning experience to show for being an OC. Especially if we are willing to pay $1.5 plus annually.
No matter what, I am hoping to be surprised pleasantly when a hire is made, and "forever LSU" should at all times be our outlook moving forward...
