Very likely taking the family next year. Should I go Friday-Wednesday and be home for thanksgiving day? Should I push it another day or is it too crazy on thanksgiving day?

If you hit the parks early on Thanksgiving day you can have some success. Once it gets to be about 11 am standby times will be pretty long but it's still doable.

How would you prepare food for Thursday if you’ve been in Disney the 6 days before?

so don't set your fast pass for morning if you go then.

Thats not how we did it but thats one way you can do it. The las time we did it MK opened at 7 am on that day it made things a bit easier but we scheduled our FP+ from 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12 but we knew we had a lunch ADR for 12 pm and after lunch we knew we were leaving the parks. After a mid day break we went to Epcot for dinner and the crowds in the world showcase werent really that bad at all but we didn't do any attractions that night either.

You should schedule the FP+ for the busiest part of the day you know you will be in the parks but scheduling your FP+ for later in the day means you kinda have to stick around regardless of how crowded it gets.

Leaving today. We have been here all week. The most crowded days were Wednesday and Friday. Least crowded were Monday and Thanksgiving.

We used fast passes and hit some parks at rope drop. Did all of the popular rides without ever waiting more than 35 mins. Also did our favorite rides multiple times.

After you use your 3 fast passes, you can select another at any of the parks. If you refresh enough, you can get any ride except the super popular ones (Frozen, Avatar, rock'in rollercoaster. 7 dwarfs mine train). We paired up a did our favorite rides again this way.

The Holiday Kitchens in Epcot were very good. We dropped our reservations and ate around the world showcase while taking in the bands each night. We stayed at Beach Club, so that was easy.

If your kid wants to do Jedi training, get to Hollywood Studios an hour before rope drop to sign up. We got there 30 mins before rope drop and got one of the last spots.

Just got back late last night. I'll write a fuller review later, but to answer your question...

This is our 3rd Thanksgiving week trip to Disney in the last 4 years (the off year we did a Disney cruise) and 6th out of the last 11. Overall, across parks and days, it was the most crowded I have seen it that week - pretty much summer-level crowds. Still nothing near the super-peak times of New Years. However, the weather was all in all very, very good (couple of days interrupted with light showers).

MK on Sunday was really crowded. I tell crowds not by the lines for rides, but by things like lines for bathrooms and counter service lunch at 2 pm. A couple of times I told my wife this might be our last thanksgiving trip... but it got better after that.

Epcot on Monday and Hollywood Studios on Tuesday were somewhat crowded but pleasant. AK on Wed was packed. MK on Turkey day started off light. We were in the park at 8:05 AM and did Big Thunder Mountain, Flying Carpets, Jingle Cruise, and Pirates all before 9:30 am. Crowds got heavier as day went on, but still was much less crowded than Sunday.

We left Friday morning to drive home, but based upon the bus lines headed to MK... I imagine it was packed.
