Tell me about black bears

So behind my house I found a torn up feeder with a big hole in the top. We had a camera on it but figured the batteries had been dead for quite a while. We had a ton of problems with coons getting in the feeder so we just figured they finally tore it up. Well Wednesday my brother in law was clearing memory cards to get the cameras back up and running and came across the card from the camera on the feeder.... decided to check it..
3 days worth of pics of what appears to be a fully mature boar in late April-Early May. We don't know how long he stayed around or if he's still there.
This is South Arkansas about 40 miles from the Ouachita River at Felsenthal where they relocated several a few years back. This one appears to have no tracking collar.
Will he stay since the feeder is empty and has been for quite a while? Or is he likely passing through and has moved on? We will have cameras back out this weekend.
At my lease this wouldn't bother me but this feeder was only about 600 yards from my back porch so having a bear close is a little unnerving.
Anyone have much experience with them? Most of my life we haven't had any around here so this is my first time dealing with one.

Black Bears are very docile animals
They will reek havoc on your feeders but they won't mess with you unless you're very unlucky or mess with them when they have cubs

If your in an area with bears I would feed soy beans. While they will eat them if there is corn around they will go there first. I hunt Tensas all the time and see them a lot while hunting. As long as you don't get in between a sow and a cub your good. They are mostly just a pain in the butt, but I'm not going to lie it will make the hair stand up on your neck when you see those eyes glowing in the dark. But I would not be scared just be aware of what is around you.

They apparently get hit by cars on the highway a lot. It usually happens multiple times on the same day and at regular intervals along the highway.

Here too. I know of 2 very bad car wrecks involving bears in the last 6 months or so. They are a bigger pain in the arse than hogs. We need a bear shooting season.

Based off your post I'm going to assume you're somewhere around Junction City? We hunt in the corney creek bottom around Lillie and this spring had a bear tear the doors off a shack and get into the corn left over from deer season. This would have been around the same time you are talking about and not terribly far through the woods depending on where you're at. I set up a camera and it didn't look like it was too large though. We only turkey hunt on the property so no idea if the bear is still around or not though.

They're friendly. I saw one on the side of the road eating trash so I pulled over on the opposite side. I eventually beckoned him over to see how he'd react and he just looked at me for a few seconds while chewing, then went back to eating lmao. I just watched for a few minutes and then left

Trash is the big issue here. They can get downtown and mess with the tourists and local businesses though. We also have brown bears but they're a little more shy.
I've put ammonia in my trash as recommended and it did nothing. Some claim it helps.

They remember where they found food. They're also generally not dangerous unless closely contested or you get between a female and young or male and food.
Honestly, I would get advice from your local Wildlife and Fisheries agents. They're probably bored silly and would be happy to talk to you about specific bears in your area and what to do about them.

I did a long trek at Philmont with my son over 10 years ago. Philmont has a 3-strikes policy.
1. A bear gets into a camping area around people? He gets tranqued, ear tagged and brought to the edge of the property.
2. A bear with an ear tag is found in a camping area around people? Tranqued, ear tagged and removed from the property (probably to Ted Turner's place).
3. A bear with 2 ear tags is found in a camping area around people? He becomes a rug.

They kind of play it by ear here. Troopers know which bears are problem bears and those are the bears that no matter how far you remove them, they'll be back.
The only bears killed this year in town so far have been ones who charged.
