Like a previous poster, stay in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area and drive in on game day. I did this during Coach Nick's first season at LSU. You will probably pay one third the room rate.

I moved here to the Knoxville area (Maryville) 10 years ago from Zachary. If you can find rooms in the Alcoa/ Maryviile area (it's where the Knoxville airport actually is) it's only about 25-30 min from the stadium. Chattanooga is beautiful and is about 1.5 hrs away if Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge isn't an option. Townsend, known as the "Peaceful side of the Smokys" is also a great option if you are looking for a quieter place that's not so busy. It's where Cades Cove is if you are for familiar with it. Market Square is a must when you come. Cool area with great bars and restaurants. If you can get in Stock and Barrel I recommend it. It's a hamburger/ Bourbon joint with one some of the best hamburgers you'll ever have!! Lots of great options in that area of downtown. Can't wait to see all the Tiger fans!!!

This will be my 3rd visit there we went the last time we played here. The 12 and 0 team. We stayed with 12 people in a 4 bedroom Cabin/house in pigeon forge area it is about a 40 minute drive to stadium. Tailgated at calhouns on the river with a bunch of LSU fans. This year we will be staying through the thanksgiving holidays. Geaux coach O

I'd stay in Gatlinburg and drive in on game day. Knoxville is the most boring city I've been to (and I've traveled all over the world).

I lived there. Was a founding partner of THE RUSH. Knoxville is a great lil town. maryville, townsend, strawberry plains, Gatlinburg. Make it a great trip, stay in the smokies. The strip in Knoxville by neyland is nowhere like it was the last time we played there. There are a ton of honey holes and things to do. We are looking forward to the trip. we will be in the smokies

We are planning on going up for game..so best to stay in Smokies?

If family want to stay in Knoxville, any part of town to stay in?

About a dozen family members going up.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

We went last year to Gatlinburg. Stayed in a cabin that had a pool table, checkers & chess board, big screen TV's, & an outdoor hot tub. Lots of places to hike or drive around to see many streams & mountains. Many pancake houses in Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge for breakfast. We will be back in November. And the fires only hit the outskirts of Gatlinburg. Most of it is fine.

Sounds like we're going to have a nice contingent up there for the game. I have at least a dozen friends planning on making the trip up.
