Wey. is leasing it for a premium price too. As lease prices tend to follow the majors and TIMO's, look for prices of most l leases to jump up significantly in that area.

Yea hunting has gone to shite in some ways in north La. Dog hunting basically done and second WMA in 2 years shut down. I know at work hunting used to be a huge deal with all the employees, now people don't even talk about hunting anymore. Granted, I worked with a bunch of dog hunters, also many of us hunted JB also. Most guys have gotten out of their leases also b/c of prices. Not many fans of Weyerhauser in north La.

I think with as many people that used that for so long the new lease holders are going to be up to their neck with poachers/trespassers. I'm not saying everyone that hunted there will show up but I can see it being an issue.

Sucks big time! Buddy was hunting that full time but now he has to find a lease. People paying up to $2,500/year to get in the leases. Crazy!! Would never pay that kind of money for pine thickets.

My first thought. No way I'd go in on a lease there.

That sucks. I wonder if La Tech Forestry will still be able to utilize the place for field work/summer camp?
