Looking to upgrade my .444 before primitive season. Should I go 2-7, 3-9 or 4-12?

Have a Nikon 3x9 on my handy rifle no problems in the 10 years I've hunted with it.

I bought mine used last year and it came with a cheap Simmons and would like to change. Is a 3-9 the standard for a .444?

I have 2 h&r handis and have a Nikon monarch 3x9x40 on one and a Nikon prostaff 3x9x50 on the other. No problems with either one. I'd say a 3x9 is a pretty good choice for that rifle.

2-7 is my favorite. I find 7x to be plenty for deer at 200 yards which is as far as you'll be shooting that lead hurler anyway.

I've got a 3x9x 40 Buckmasters on both of my Handi-rifles.

I see the Buckmasters can be had for a little over $100.

Just ordered a Redfield 3-9x42. It should do the job nicely.
