Or are they? Because they probably get paid more than most of us.
I just found it funny.

Yea I saw that yesterday, pretty funny. As much as I like Schiff, he's been riding off this for about six years.
Since then, off the top of my head he's predicted about 6 different crashes. Doomsdayer's only have to be right once ever decade to be considered oracles. Schiff has been a strategist for a while now (and tried to be a politician in '10), so it's much different making claims from the "economist" ivory tower compared to actually having to manage money. If his themes were manifested in portfolios he actually ran he'd have some pretty pissed off clients looking at their 5-year performance right now.

The most perplexing thing about Schiff was that he had and kept his clients loaded up in international stocks fully believing collapse was imminent, even during the entire market collapse. His take on the US, while believing weaker countries would fare amazingly better, was ludicrous at the time he was making assertions of doom. Why would anyone invest with that guy? It is still amazing to see some people make good livings off others when the self-professed knowledgeable prognosticators can be dangerously unknowledgeable and completely wrong.

yeah, CNBC panders pretty often to hype type talking heads.
They regularly put 'doom n gloom' Marc Faber who is ALWAYS predicting disaster. Their latest efforts to generate interest without substance are putting 'sharks' on to analyze market or economic conditions as if Cuban and O'Leary are any kind of expert on those subjects.
