Too true. Alcohol usage can result in actual domestic violence. A spice named "Slap Ya Momma" more than likely results in no actual domestic violence, though I don't have data to back that up, nor does anyone.

but it really is a great product.

It's not different than the other 48 cajun seasoning mixes that have come out in the last 10 years

Slap Ya Mama was my 92 year old Mom's choice of Cajun seasoning for a number of years before she passed last December......she wasn't originally from So La and had absolutely no problem with the name.....Not that we ever wasted any breath even discussing it.....Never an issue......NFL is dumb!!

Here's the quote: quote: maintained that the name "refers to a loving slap on the back and a kiss on the cheek to your mama as a thank you for preparing another great-tasting dish."

Yes it's accurate

Well, SYM has not helped themselves with their television ad where the "Mama" puts on a fricking catchers mask before sitting down to the meal. Wouldn't do a hell of a lot of good protecting against back slaps.

ETA: I think this ban, and the rationale, is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard

I was going to post this. Maybe my taste buds are not refined but to me all of those seasoning mixes taste the same.

but in it's campaign against domestic violence

Wait, wait, so the NFL only suspends Ray Rice for a few games for knocking out his girlfriend, but is suddenly on their high horse about a comical name of a spice mix? Nice campaign about domestic violence.

Not to mention, prior to that, someone unsuccessfully tries to slap her in the face, She parries the blow. Needless to say the attempted slapper was not Ray Rice nor the Kraken.

I fully expect the NFL to do away with any and all alcohol adverstising. They are obviously promoting drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, which a few players every year seem to have a problem with.

I'm sure they would have a problem with a beer named "Drink & Drive". I'm not going to argue with you because I don't buy into all of the frickin PC BS that is ruining our country but the fact is, companies, because of said PC BS, are being held to some pretty ridiculous marketing rules & it would probably be a good idea to not associate your products name with any sort of negative social concern or sensitive issue. Again, as said in my original response, I don't agree with it but I see where the NFL would feel the need to distance themselves from a controversial product name.
