Only once. It was in New Orleans back in the 70s but I can't remember the name of the place. I asked for prices when I ordered. They were high.

Reminds me of some hoity toity places I've read about but never went to. They don't offer a menu. You eat what the chef feels like cooking that day.

There is a place in Houston like that called Fuad's

LINK /

If you navigate around their website eventually you'll stumble upon a link that says "download our menu" that just opens up a blank PDF

Prix fixe menu is done as a result of what the chef finds at the market that morning that is the freshest in good restaurants that don't keep a lot of stuff in a cooler. I would like to have the chance to go shopping at the big assed market in Paris once. It is larger than more than a few football stadiums combined and shite arrives from all over the night before.

University Club in Jackson. Only host/member's menu has prices. Your guests will never see a price, only selections. No payment at end of meal either. You get a monthly bill.

I like it.

Camelot Club used to do this in the city, but its been years since I've been to a dinner there where it was given to everyone, including the host.

In the '70s and '80s The Sazerac restaurant in the Fairmont Hotel was the swankiest place in town. Read about it here
The menus handed to the females in the party did not show prices. This kept the gold-diggers from "ordering off the right side."

I don't care who gets the wine list. I have had too many instances lately where I have had to ask the server for it. Unacceptable IMO.

Nope. Even worse, I have my birth name, just like millions of other women around the world. It's not exactly revolutionary. But back to the food...
